Lie on your back with your head, neck and spine in a nice straight line. Place your feet about 60cm (2ft) apart, relaxing them out to the sides. Your arms should be at 45 degrees to your body, palms facing up. Inhale, then tense all the muscles in your body and hold the breath for a few seconds, before exhaling, completely letting go of all tension. Close your eyes and focus your awareness on your breathing: as you inhale the abdomen rises, as you exhale the abdomen falls. Relax for as long as you can afford, feeling the energy flowing throughout your body. You will now be in a much more ready state for meditation.
